Universal Remote was my first solo exhibition. Held at Southern Exposure in San Francisco, Universal Remote is a multimedia meditation on the absence of Michael Jackson. Through drawings, photo manipulations, sculpture, and mixed media installation, I have created new fictions and fables that explore his triumphs and pathos, his grotesquery and incandescent gifts. I focused especially on the paradox of Jackson, in particular the way he was at once ubiquitous and overexposed but elusive and ultimately unknowable.
